Machine vs Human.
My closest acquaintance who was familiar with the computer field at that time told me that Yahoo was better than Google because Yahoo’s directory was organized by human while Google’s was by machine that's programming algorism. When I heard that, I was accepted his opinion simply without consideration or necessity for me. Probably I also thought that human was more intelligent than a machine. Human could make a judgement more cautiously than a machine. I guess many people had the same opinion at that time before Google prevailed. In fact, maybe Yahoo was better, and had more appropriate directory than Google at the beggining. I didn't think over that human resource was limited, while programming in a machine was not limited nor their algorism could become such better. However, this post doesn’t harm Yahoo because Yahoo has now succeeded as a great portal website, maybe not for searching, yes I also visit Yahoo every onece a day to check the news, though, many of non tec people had lingered at Yahoo for the Internet searching.
Now, I have to think why I made such misreading back then. Because I never took a class of Computer Science? I expect that we can learn at the Computer Science Class how programming can be efficient like a leverage too. Is that right? But I still think that the founder of Yahoo also must be smart and probably learn the Computer Science unlike me. However, why has Yahoo been prevailed by Google in the searching field? Maybe their focus was the portal website rather than searching. But Google’s focus was only searching in the beginning.
If I was one who wanted to be an investor then, I was a fool who missed such an immense chance in Google. Later then, I just appreciated Google’s web ranking algorism that was originated as Google’s beginning. The algorism was based on the each website’s links to other websites. That was the network of websites in the Internet world before emerging the social websites. That was the greatest idea of Google at its start, in my opinion.
